1179 rings

I talked with the guy that I ordered my 1179 kit from, and asked him about replacement rings... telling him that I would like another set, since in the future, I'll probably re-ring this one before boring again.

He wrote back and said he'll sell me the Wiseco ring sets for $20 ( $80 a set) if anyone else is interested. I assume this would be the price for the 1196 rings also.


I don't know how good a deal this is as I haven't checked around, but thought I'd tell you folks. It seemed cheap compared the the Yamaha OEM sets.

OK I don't think that price is unreasonable however I bough 4 sets of NOS OEM first over size rings for 47.98 including shipping on eBay just the other day? I will guess that's a good deal then.

Hey Rob,

Well, that might be a fair price after seeing these values:

2H7-11610-12-00 or 3J2-11610-10-00
Bike bandit states:
PISTON RINGSET 1ST
(ALTERNATE PARTS) 35277-001 $55.33

Zanottimotor.com sells them for $35.64 a set, but again doesn't state what IS a set. I would think a SET would be for ALL 4 cylinders, but with Yamaha you never know??

Yes but Bike Bandit has minimum purchase value and a big shipping cost to me here in Canada. The photos of the rings show 4 complete 5 piece sets. They were 34.99 plus 12.99 shipping so it seems like a pretty good score or at least in the normal range.
