  • Center stand spring connection

I did a search for this question which brought up a ton of info but nothing I found related to what i needed to know.

I recently recieved a center stand w/hardware and I can not seem to find where the spring would attach to the frame. Is there suppose to be a clip or attachment someplace on the cross bar of the frame that I am possibly missing?

I have just standards, so I'm not positive on this. I think the spring SHOULD attach to the cross member just in front of the swing arm. There should be a "wire" size loop welded to the frame someplace. I know it will be hard to pull the spring onto everything. I believe the easy way is put the spring on, and then bolt up the stand.

I just looked on mine, and the top of the spring attaches to a post that is welded to the top of the bracket that the left leg of the center stand attaches to. It is parallel to the ground, and it points inwards.

I just took a look at my 79 standard. Just above the left bolt for the center stand on the inward side is a "L" shaped hook about 1/4" dia. welded on.

I thought that was the centerstand stop.

I have that exact post that John has described. I was looking for some kind of a loop or hook as well so there must be diferences between Standard and Specials there too.

Something about working standing on my head that really messes with me.

          Thanks guys.
