    piston and rob balancing

    I was wondering...
    does anyone know if it would make a diffrence, good or bad, to balance all the rods and pistons like you would in a car motor.

    Piston and rod balencing is one of those nth degree things. Sure you can have your engine balenced and blueprinted, but on a $1000-$2000 motorcycle the expense would seem to be wasted. On a $10,000 drag engine that is run to the envelope every time, it is a 'must-do'. I am surely not going to worry about it on my bike, other than to check and make sure the piston and ring assy are very close in weight, I am not going to even remove the rods from the engine.

      Fair point gary,but if you can do it yourself,dynamic balancing is worth doing,blueprinting an engine is good for a few extra bhp,and mpg,as well as reducing stresses and prolonging engine life.I always feel that people spending money on tuning an unbalanced engine are throwing money away.This is less important on modern engines with better manufacturing tolerances.
