I knew this would get attention! $$$$$
Can anyone tell me what the first 1100 went for list?
I was fortunent enough to get one with 50 miles on it at a real steal.
The guy thought it was to big for him, was scared of it!
Was I dreaming or what did they go for?

I am thinking an XS in '80 sold for about $3200, but I would have to look in some old mags I have to be sure.

That is about the price I was thinking.
I got mine from a guy i worked with for $2400 with 50 miles on it.
The poor guy had an inheritance and I remember him buying all sorts of things. 3 months later was broke!
The bike was to big for him and one trip out was all he rode it.
Who knows the truyh about that one trip out?

In about March of 1978 I bought a brand new 1978XS11E for $3650.00 cdn. Just the bike nothing else.... then I added fairing, lowers, hard bags, luggage rack and back rest.

I bought my '81 from a guy in '83 with a similar story, it had only 15 miles on it, but inflation had kicked in by then, I think I paid $3,200 for my Special then, but that was the OEM '81 price, and thru the Navy Exchange system at that, and I was stationed in Japan!!

Bare bike. One of 4 sold at that dealer. In a few months mine was the only one not wrecked (altho stupid as I was I tried hard to make it 4 for 4)

They divorced years earlier. She told him several times to come get his stuff. Ocassionall he'd come and get some but never the bike and some power tool I bought at the time too. She had to move and she said $50 was all she wanted if that was a fair price. The bike wasn't running at the time and I had no knowedge of XS1100's. She'd never seen it run, never rode on it. Tires(original) were flat and the fairing was cracked, It had been outside for years. It's a 78, had the 79 sticker on the plate (I'm assuming that's the last time it was ridden), and 7,200 miles on the odo. I bought it in 2001, $00 had it on the road (that includes initial purchase and licensing). Now I have about $2,500 invested and it's running darn near perfect. Everything now will be cosmetic.
