  • help new member no spark

hello all ive finally got round to joining

ricently purchased my first real bronto bike xs1100 1982
im not exactly sure of the model

anyway my problem so far it wont spark

so ive done the obvious (used to own a gs1000) so used to braking down
    checked all connections etc
    changed plugs
removed the generator windings and found it all new inside?
the cdi box has good scraped into it so i rekon someones already changed that
dont know how to check the coils but they have power getting to them from the red/white wire

has anybody got a wiring diagram and some voltage values for me to check with a meter

what part makes the spark? ignition pickup is it the inner windings on the generator?
how can i check if a cdi is working?

if anybody can spare the time to reply with somre clues i would be most gratefull thanx dombandit
i have a hammer and im prepared to use it

Check out THIS recent thread. It is a lot of reading but your answer may be there as this member had the same issues.

      Hi Dom,

May also be worth having a look at the UK forum; You may find someone close at hand who can help!

First step is to find out what you have; the "prefix" of your frame number will identify the bike. The original engine will share the whole number, so it is easy to check if that is still there.

Once we know what you have, if you put it in your signature, it makes giving advice a lot easier!
