I'm sure a few here have changed out the fuel tanks fuel level sending unit at some point or another. What's the changes that the gasket can be salvaged?
Rob
I took my Fuel sending unit off my 80SG and was shocked at how good the gasket was. I went ahead and reused it and have had not one drop leak.
I am sure it was not changed by the PO because the sending unit needed cleaning and was dirty causing it to not work. I cleaned it in Carb cleaner, scrubbed with a toothbrush, and verified it had good electrical connections and it came back to life.
I was also shocked when I did the petcocks, how well those gaskets were too. I could have gotten away with reusing those too but had already purchased new ones.
Ditto on the other replys. When I painted my bike a few months ago,the fuel sending unit gasket and the petcock gaskets were in near perfect shape-no leaks. Brad
