  • Speedo cable

I'm looking for a slightly longer speedo cable and housing. When not riding the speedo cable is too short and especially when on the center stand. I had it on the center stand couple of days ago whth the cable disconnected and was unable to reattach the cable without SWMBO sitting on the tank. Has anyone any idea where I can get a slightly longer one?

Why would you need a longer cable? Is it not routed properly? Perhaps it is not the correct one to begin with?

The forks are more extended when on the center stand vs. the side stand?

I guess, if your using a really short speedo cable off some other bike as a suspension limiter. My speedo cables will go beyond the full length of the extended forks without binding.

            Hi Planedick,
I don't remember the length but the speedo cable I got for $15:99 from Dennis Kirk for my XS11SG works just fine even when the forks were at full extension when I jacked the front end off the ground to work on it. Is the cable for a Standard shorter than the cable for a Special does anybody know?

              Hi Fred,

I don't know about the lengths of the Special/Standard cables, but they don't interchange; the Standard has a "normal" Yamaha screw fiting, the Special is a push in, fixed by a 6mm bolt.
