behind the speedo there is a black bar with two wires going to it, and it looks like a long skinny light bulb (maby and inch long). it has a green tint to the bulb and two wires coming off of it. i have two of them and neither one lights up. what is it for? and is it a light? i can see what ever it is inside and it does not look burnt or look bad.

No, reed switch.
Hi raqumup.
that lamp don't light up because it ain't one. That there is a reed switch. It counts the number of times the rotating disc in the speedo goes round and sends that data to the signal cancelling module so the module will turn your blinkers off again if you don't do it first. One of the many reasons the XS11 has hundreds of different wires in it's harness while my BSA only has 5 (well, 8 if I want signals)Fred Hill, S'toon

Hi Ernie,
you are asking someone who actually believed the tale about electrics working by compressed smoke?
I would suppose that if you piggybacked a feed off the return wire's pulsed current flow the signal could be fed to an electronic thingie that would work a radio's volume control.
Perhaps someone more conversant with the smoke theory could add the details here?Fred Hill, S'toon
