  • Identification help

Finally got a hold of an XS but am unsure as to what model it is. I was hopping that someone here could identify her for me. The bike is a little rough but tuns over and has good compression. The bike also had a full faring along with mounts for hard cases and a luggage rack. I've included a link to a couple of pics as well.

    Date of Manufacturer: 1980

    VIN: 4R1-000984
    GVWR: 1090

    Mystery 1100

    Any help would be appreciated

As per the serial number link, in the specs section:

    It's a 1981 standard, US model.

looks like it used to carry the venture package like mine, same guards and bag racks but the fairing mount looks like a vetter.

Yes, same bag mounts as on mine, the fairing mount is the same as mine as well, and I have the Yamaha fairing designed by Vetter.

THe exhaust looks too short for the std, though. I thought the specials had the pipes end before the axle?

No mystery, 81 Venturer. It should have the larger fuel tank for extra miles.
            Nice get.

Fifty bucks at a garage sale? He didn't pay for it, he tossed some money at somebody while he was stealing it!

Yeah, kind of what I thought!! He had a choice of the 1100 or a Suzuki 650, I told him the gas tank alone was probably worth $50.00 and there was a good chance we could get her back on the road.
