  • More jet size help

    Hi Guys and gals,
I am trying to rebuild my carbs on my 1978 xs1100, i have looked at various sites (US & UK) and the recommended kits all seem to have different bits in !!, some do not have the main jet, some do not have the emulsion tubes. I am getting very confused and then, when i read threads on carbs, the size of the jets are completely different.
I will need to up size i think as i have an open 4-2-1 pipe and have pods fitted.
when will this dilemma end ?

Unless they jets and parts are physically damaged, they typically do not need to be replaced. It does sound like you need to do some re-jetting, though, with those mods. I have pods and a 4-1 and I would very much recommend the 'formula' in the tech tips. It basically recommends 2 sizes up for 4-1, 2 sizes up for pods, and if the increase totals more that 3 sizes up, you subtract 1 size off the main and go up 1 size in pilot. So, for you and me, that works out to 3 sizes up on the main, and 1 size up for the pilot. Not buying kits will also save you a substantial amount of money, too.
