interchangable side covers?

Anyone know which side covers will fit an 81 xs1100sh. I heard that maybe an xs650 but just wanted to check

I tried that because I had spare XS650 sidecovers, both tin & plastic ones, and needed a rightsider for my SG. Heartbreakingly close but not close enough. OK, Mr Desperate could try repositioning the attachment pins but still the shape itself is too different to fit the XS11 frame.
OTOH, different years of XS11 covers will fit or can be modified to fit. Earlier covers have slots at the top where later covers have holes instead but the lower pin is in the same place on all of them and careful work with a Dremel tool will turn slots into holes or turn holes into slots. The rightside cover that I could find was from a '79 Standard and needed Dremelizing to fit. It's also not quite the same shape as the stock '80 cover on the left but nobody can see both sides of the bike at once, eh?

I really appreciate the help, I bought the bike from someone who didn't have it running and now ride it everyday after a little work. I lost the original going up the highway and never found it. Finding one is very difficult but I want to make the bike look great again. I actually found the owner who had it before the other guy since he is a member in here.

go to the XS11 parts for sale and look there, someone might have one. Andreas Weiss always has an ad. there for the XS11s he parts out and besides, he's a good guy to deal with.

The only other cover that will fit is the one from an 80 Special, or MNS.
