        Bummer. Was hoping it was something for blocking the wind that comes up from under the fairing!

          As Alan and pggg said it sits just under the front of the tanks on specials and covers up a couple of frame welds and wiring.

            That's right .. On the specials the tank is not as far forward and is more rounded so more of the frame is exposed so that piece just hides the frame and for that mater the back of the coils as well. It actually attach's to the bracket that are part of the coil hardware of the special model.

                Hey I was looking for one of those. What everyone else said it's a vanity cover under the front edge of the tank.
                I hate signatures. Too many cars and Bikes to list here.

                      No. it doesn't stop water from getting on the coils. It is strictly cosmetic, and in fact, I don't even have one on my bike. Last time I had the coils out, I couldn't get the bracket to mount to the coils properly so I said to hell with it.
