  • Drilling splines in XJ Seca style bars

    Rover -

I have an XJ11 with Seca style, adjustable bars. Wanna get more adjustment. In your prev. post - which end were you referring to when drilling out the splines? E.g. the small MALE end, black, rubber coated, or the lowest part that goes down into / onto the triple tree?

I'm having trouble removing the small splined end from the aluminum slotted bars [left side, end of bar]. Used a large screwdriver to pry the splined FEMALE end apart to no avail.

    1) Does one have to use a puller or pound on the steel splined end to drive it back & out [to the LEFT]?

    2) Does one drill out the softer aluminum - to remove the splines on the large receiver bar?

Any problems with the black bar [grip] ends moving / slipping from their clamped position once the receiver has a round hole?

    Anyone, any ideas, pics?
