  • MikesXS Shocks

Hi all I need new rear shocks for my 1978 standard and saw a set on MikesXS and was wondering if they would work ok on my bike 99% of the time it hauls me and my wife around.

Yes I forgot to mention the eye to eye length was the main part of my question I thought is was 12 3/4" eye to eye but was not sure. Thanks for the reply.

Cheapo aftermarket shocks are always going to be basic, very average, and won't last anymore than a few months without losing their guts if riding the bike reasonably often

My XJ was miserable in the sacked out shock department. So I used adjustable shocks designed for a 750 lb. Harley on my XJ since we're two fairly large people.

Description: 89-99 SOFTAIL BLK CHROME ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS LOWERING KIT.
They have 2.5" adjustment range, from 10.5" to 13" eye to eye length.

Great item if your doing heavy hauling and/ or using trailer. Unless you're 5'8" or less, keep 'em around 12" length.

Got em on Ebay from american classic motors for $97 the pair ... yikes, they are FIRM! Not for the faint of ...

I have the Mike's $69.00 cheapos on mine. I keep them on the stiffest setting and that makes them OK for me. With tow on the bike they sag a lot.

NOW you post this! Wildkat just bought me some new in the box Progressive shocks, on ebay and I know she paid a lot more that for them. I like them the ride is really nice.

I put a pair of these on my 650 Turbo, They're crap. Real ass-busters. Don't know why, but they made my rear suspension feel like a hard tail.
