Well, I don't remember the guy off this site I bought my gauges from, he had them advertised awhile back, anyway, I wanted to upgrade my 85mph speedo to a 160 one, so I bought these gauges knowing fully well that they had been crashed, and need to be swapped into my cases, sweet no big deal. When they got here I was pleased, just another winter project, well I started that project today............. I took the head light off and to my surprise, butt connectors everywhere!! I called the ol man, and he says "yeah I did that" I guess he had laid this bike down also, along with the first two he totaled. So he said "all I could get was that set, but they aren't the ones for that bike" So he cut the plugs off the old set, and wired them onto the ones he got so they would work on the bike. He went from the bullet style to the square style, I had no idea. So here I sit pondering certain things.......... Everything worked the way he had it except the tach bounced between 5k and 6k when you got it up there, it never has gone above that since I have had it, and the gas gauge didn't work, (well I got another sending unit, thinking that was the problem) Dad says it might not even be hooked up, I see a few wires left under there that go to nothing. I would like to have the right gauges, that will just plug into the right plugs, but don't want to buy a whole other set, I'm not even sure if that style comes in a 160 speedo?
So I guess I will put this on hold till I hear what some of you have to say, and I am willing to trade my 2 sets of working gauges, 1 in great shape the other in ok shape for a set of good bullet style, but the speedo has to go over 100mph, Thanks for listening to my rants and I hope to hear from ya, Happy New Year!
