Hey guys,
im looking for a compleate gasket set for my 80 xs11 special. Anyone know a place or have a compleate set?

Seems a little pricey but have not got a whole kit recently so maybe prices have gone up. Think I paid around $70.00 last time.

Hi mro,
so far I've never been inside my motor but for when I finally have to, what gives with that? Is there a redesigned head gasket which incorporates that gasket's function,
or was it never really needed in the first place, or what?

Couple on Ebay, at any given time, usually. Ther are a few brands. The one I got was made by Athena, cost $80ish.

So far I have no complaints with the gaskets I have used, except that 'complete' gaskets sets don't include the crank seals.

$80... including shipping. None of the "Complete gasket sets" I have seen include exhaust header gaskets. So you'll need those if you buy one.

The DennisKirk set has the header gaskets. Got one about a year ago. $101. "Vesrah" is the brand on it.

The Athena set I bought came with the exhaust port gaskets too.

New head gasket has it built in, altho at first look it does not appear so. If you try to re-use the cam chain galley gasket you will damage the head when torqing it down.

My first experience putting an XS back together had a couple close calls. One was that gasket. I'd tossed out the old head gasket and had not compaired em first. Was a little ticked that there were no shaft seals or that gasket in the kit. When I put the head back on noticed that the galley gasket was holding the head up a little...so I posted the problem here on channel 11. Think Prom was the one who set me straight.

If you scan down on that link I posted, the exhaust gaskets are 8 bucks more, but I have always just re-used mine. I did double up on them recently trying to get a buzz out of the exhaust pipes.... no avail.
