  • Tire size swap?

Has anyone ever changed/swapped, on the front of XS11, from
a 100/90 to a 110/80 tire size? I've been thinking for some time, about "trying" this. Would probably not clear the fender; I can make the "necessary" change(s), if I decided to try this grand experiment.............

ONR, a 110 gets a bit squeezed when fitted to a skinny XS rim, tends to wear down the middle quicker than stock 100

I appreciate that information;...............(?) I hadn't thought that the "110" was going to be that much wider.
(?) What kind of handling differences.....did you maybe--notice?
The tire can be gotten in both "R" (radial), and the bias. Was the
wear description you described with the bias or the radial?

I'm fairly certian our bikes aren't rated for a radial. Better go with the bias-ply.

Have been running a 110/90 up front for some time with absolutely no problem.

I've got a Special, and also put a 110/90 on mine. I only experienced a fender clearance problem due to an improper Dealer repair decades ago where they replaced my Special fender with a Standard, and so the front of the fender was a bit close, but a proper fender, either model should work just fine!

The only tyre I've ever used that lasted down the treadline was spitfire tyres hard in the middle soft on sides, metzeler 33 fronts wear down quick, pretty thin tread to start with

Have been riding Metzler 110/90 front for years with excelent service. Handling is great too. Only problem I have ever had was that it is a tight squeeze when taking the front wheel off. I let the air out to make it a bit easier to get betwween the fork tubes.

I'm gonna try this MAXXIS Presa Detour. I've been eyeballin' it, and considerin' it for a couple months.

For really long milage if the sides get cupped the tyres soon smooth on the sides, that's what happened to a 110 dunlop I tried, also the centre was smooth with no tread before long, but I know different tyres wear different, also the metzeler 110 on my bike at the moment is on a wider 18" rim, you can see the difference is plenty in width the 110 over the 100, the same 100 metzelers on my 19 inch XS front rim wore out fast but the sides didn't scallop like dunlops and eventually the spitfire which wore the sides more than the middle tread, I reckon conti tours probably last the longest on the back, hard rubber and deep tread, but a michelin radial lasts just as long if not longer

Make sure of what you're getting.

I ordered some Maxxis tyres last year, when they came they were made by Cheng Shin.

I've had a Cheng Shin on a bike before, it was like riding on a diesel spill

These Cheng Shin Maxxis were a different tread pattern so I thought I'll give em a go, guess what? YEP!....like riding on a diesel spill

                      Go carefully mate
