XJ fender on a special

Does anyone know if an Xj fender will mount on a '81 special under my tKat brace?

I think you may not have the room for it. The XJ had a "built in" brace, just a heavy chunk-o-steel under the fender.

While I do remember that, I also remember not getting the whole question answered. In particular the part about the brace. I also did a search for threads with me in them and 'fender' and couldn't find that post.

Did not find you in this post nor answer about fork brace.
But did have a post by John using an XJ fender.
If the fender does not stick up too high brace might fit, or might be able to "elong-gate " mounting holes to adjust fender to accomadate brace.?>?

Just did a quick visual comparison

of an XJ and XS fender... turned them upside down and tried to match up the mounting holes... they didn't... It looked as though by matching up the mounting holes, the XJ fender would be about 1/4" higher than the XS fender when mounted...

Found this that Dan Hodges had posted in one of your original threads regarding the switch...

I have an 81 special and it fits and works perfectly.It fits real close to the front fender,so while I was polishing it on the buffing wheel I put a very small radius in front of the cross piece that was closest to the fender and now I have that .125 of an inch clearence that makes me feel comfortable.

Seems to me that the XJ fender might be a bit too high for the brace...
Surely SOMEone can give you a definitive answer though...
