headlights

Please help.
My headlight is out on My 1980 xs1100 standard.
I've tried a new bulb,and checked the fuses of course.
The bike runs,as strong as ever.No other problems noted.
What next???
Anxiously awaiting.

had same problem a few weeks ago. check charging system my alt. was not putting out enough amps, and bypased the headlight relay. new alt and everything works fine.

Head kight relay switch ?

With bike running check that your getting voltage to bulb socket.
Yes, clean socket
No, check voltage on the headlight side of relay
No power on that side check power to relay
Yes, power to relay, but not after then relay bad
No, power to relay, re-check fuse, and then wiring between fuse and relay.

have you checked/cleaned all electrical connectors/grounds lately?
