dip stick

looking for a dipstick to ckeck oil in the gear box and shaft drive.
or at lest a blue print of one so i can make one at work.

i took the fill plug out last year to do a gear oil change and now i want to check the rear, however the fill plug won't come loose, is it counter clockwise to remove? i'm bending my allen wrenchs, and i don't even think i torqued it down that hard, help and thanks

It is a conventional (right-hand) thread.

Try warming the housing with a hot-air gun......

You can also try a STEEL hammer and tap the Allen wrench. The shock will help loosen the bolt. Try putting anti-seize on the bolt threads when you reinstall it. That should keep the steel threads from siezing to the aluminum case.

rear filler plug

I had to use the breaker bar with the hex key socket to crack it .
MAN, it was tight . Even when I tried not to put it back in tight ,next time, I still needed the breaker bar .

plug screws

I just bought new plug screws and gaskets for final drive and mid drive from local dealer. Cost $15 AUS each. Mine were rounded out and time to replace before I couldn't get em off.

I recently made a dipstick in 5 minutes, using the template off this site. All I needed was scissors, pen, a ruler and an old plastic sauce bottle - fairly thick rigid plastic. Not flash but does the job and I won't sweat it if I lose the bugger.
