Will the clutch and brake levers off a xs650 fit a xs1100?
Also i have a lead on a 1980 xs1100 standard motor with 11,000 miles on it. The guy said it has been sitting out of the bike for 6-7 years, he bought it as a spare. But the last time he checked it it turned over and that was 4-5 months ago. Ok heres my question. How can you turn over a motor thats not in a bike? Also what should I look for if i go and look at this? He wants 100 bucks but I dont want to loose the money if it turns out to be junk.

    thanks

I cant tell you if the XS650 levers will fit or not, Im guessing not, but I can tell you that www.partsnmore.com has both levers for $5 a piece. Just an option.

      Hey Jason,

You can do a lot of parts cross referencing by going to
Yamaha's Official Online Parts Fiche page and look up the parts you want, copy the #'s and compare!

Also, in the LINKS section, there's a nice cross reference search utility in the UK by Lamric, just sign up and then you can search for parts and it will tell you what other bikes use that same part!

      79SF650:
      Clutch:2H0-83912-20-00 LEVER 1
      Brake:2H7-83922-00-00 LEVER 2

      79F 1100:
      Clutch 79F:2H0-83912-20-00 LEVER, LEFT
      Brake: 2H7-83922-00-00 LEVER, RIGHT
So...as you can see, they are the same style, at least on these two bikes of same year. The Special had a different number, but I think it was the paint or cosmetic change, the fittings should be the same!

PS, what the fellow probably meant is that he was able to ROTATE the engine and so that it was not SEIZED, but aside from that, that's about it. Would be hard to do a compression test on it, and it might not mean much anyways, many engines first show low values, but once running, and rings reseat, it often goes up to close to normal!

$100.00 isn't bad as long as the valves aren't bent, you can get that much out parting it out IF it's not usable otherwise! A spare ALT assembly, Clutch Assembly, gears, cams, valves, middle drive, etc!
