not likely .. The standard side covers are a different shape and if I am not mistaken the special side covers "pop" on and the standard covers "hang' on. That may depend on when the bike was made however.

No they are different in shape and mounting. 80 special needs a 80 special sidecover. andreasComment

Gas tank swap.
Hey Switz,
You'll be okay with the tank, they are the same for the specials to specials, and standards to standards, until you get to the XJ11!
It's swapping from special to standard or vice versa that it gets a little different, regarding the different petcocks and such!
