I picked up an XS1100 a few months ago from a friend. I finally decided to start working on it today. Although he was riding it up until the day it was parked, I'm getting no power from the electrics. New Battery, key on, nothing lights up anywhere. If I short across the solenoid, starter cranks but no fire. Is there a main fuse or a common connection somewhere that I'm not seeing? Thanks, Sidecarmikel

I replaced my fuse block with a spade type from radioshack for about $15. Even came with a nice plastic cover. There was room (5 slots) for all the regular fuses, and also to move the main fuse in also. You will have no problems with the spade fuses. There is a tech tip somewhere around here that talks about this....
I did mine after I hit a big bump and the bike died. After a few seconds of diagnostics I discovered that there were no fuses left in the stock fuse box. They all fell out at the same time!

This June my old Z1000 did something similar when the main fuse disintergrated whilst lane splitting around the M25 - the main London orbital highway. Didn't burn out - just fell apart. The full load of camping gear didn't help getting out of the traffic either.
Bad day all around as my wife ran into me about an hour later and came off her bike - ending up in an afternoon in hospital rather than a weekend at a bike rally!!XS1.1 sport - Sold June 2005 :-(
