81 XS1100sp charge problem

XS freaks here is the elec. stumper. my 81 stoped
charging. the reg output seemed good over12 volts. but at the batt. only 10v. so i aded a wire (red+) from reg. over frame fuze
to batt+ bam 13.5 volts. then it worked for the rest of the season
now it's back below 12v and will not charge. i have done a lot of testing and i can not figure it out and i'm the DC.doctor..thanks
PS. stator & reg. test good...........

Did you check the neg. battery ground at the frame,or the ground wire itself?
