  • Jardine 4 into 2

I lucked out and found a set of Jardine 4 into 2 flared mufflers for $110(+ $10 shipping) on Ebay. My having the rear tire off helped out, and the mufflers sound good. I must not have cinched down the clamps enough because I had leakage at the joint where the clamp was. I cinched 'em down some more, so hopefully that won't be a problem anymore.
Overall I like the looks and finish(Chrome) but can't get it rolling till May or so--darn snow!

Any mounting problems? Also, what model bike did you put them on? I have a set waiting for me to put them on the XJ, but its not a high priority as the stock set is still in pretty good shape.

      Jardine 4 into 2

My bike is a 1980 xs1100G. The only difficulty I had was slipping the mufflers on to the pipes. The crossover pipe makes it hard to install them one at a time. I just put the 2 mufflers, with the supplied crossover pipe already on, on at the same time. It took some jimmying, but it worked. The axle bolt/nut clearance to the muffler is very close(on both sides), so be sure to have someone exert downward pressure on the muffler(s) when getting them into place so that they line up with the hanger bracket. Noone was around when I did mine so I ended up with a small scratch on the muffler--nothing major.
