  • Oil pan interchangability.

Can anyone tell me for sure if the XS1100 and XJ1100 oil pans are interchangeable?

    OKay Kevin,

Here are the part #'s for the oil pan gaskets for both the XJ11 and the 79SF XS11, you'll note that they are the same #, so YES, the pans will swap. However, the XJ has a change to allow the use of the Oil level sensor, the XS11 does not have this, SO..if you are putting an XS11 pan on an XJ, you'll loose your oil level sensor!

So... pull the sensor out of your old pan and put it on the new!

        Nice try Tod,

But, the XJ has a specially designed pan where the sensor fits into it as seen in this photo:

And I don't think he could just drill a matching hole for it!? It should still have the same plumbing fittings on top of the case, so he should be able to put the XS style pressure sensor and add a gauge, or use the same wires for the level sensor for the pressure sensor...I think it can be done!?

IMHO, the oil sensor is useless anyway. Figure out a way to put an XS pressure sensor on there.
