  • Cable to hold rear wheel

I have a '79 XS1100 SF and it did not come with the cable used on the rear end when changing tire.

You can see it here in the top-right corner of this tool kit on eBay:

I'd like to fabricate one with hardware store substitutes but need some specs. Anyone have better pictures or measurements?

    Thanks in advance.

The SF does not need the cable as the exhaust will not interfere with the axle. I do not think it was even included in the factory kit on the SF.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

The cable was ONLY in the kit for the E, F, and G models. NONE of the Special or XJ models had it. The stock exhaust ended in front of the rear axle, so the rear tire can be removed easily. The cable was for the Standard with the long mufflers. You needed to raise the rear end so the axle would clear the muffler, without having to pull the muffler.
