  • Keyster SD-1 Carb Diaphragms

Has anybody replaced their carb diaphragms with this product? They're for sale on E-bay, but the supplier says that they are for 80-83 carbs. Any Ideas on how to proceed? I hesitant to use the rubber spray idea, simply because of the exposure to gas vapor. It seems as though my current diaphragms have some sort of fine mesh associated with their composition.
    Thank you.

Avoid coating big areas of the diaphragm because it can stiffen and then not function properly. Your goal is to plug holes.

      Hey Yamasutra,

As they state, they are for the later year carbs, the 80-83 series that have the LARGER vacuum piston, so I don't think they will fit properly on the 78-79 slides, but don't know for sure? You might be able to fit them, and then SEAL them around where they mount to the slides with some gas proof flexible sealant!?

Like Skids said, just try to seal up the little pinholes, much more economical!

Thanks so much for all the replies! Any Ideas as to how to actually removed the Diaphragm from the Tube? Do I have to cut the plastic that keeps it in?

Yup! Made a cut in the side of the upper plastic ring on top of the diaphragm with a Dremel tool . Broke the remaining half mm open with a screwdriver. Afterwards glue and tighten the rings with a tiewrap.
