  • Carb Diaphrams

My carb diaphrams have the usual pin holes
in them so i go to my local yamaha dealer
2 suss out yamabond so i can repair them,
of the three parts guys in the shop not one of them
had heard of the stuff, typical hey, well there was a cpl of yamaha mechanics in the shop that overheard my conversation when an older one said, "they use to use super glue in the olden days", u know the glue that dries in 3 sec, well they had none there and off i go to the hobby shop and pick sum up. I blot a little on each hole on both sides of the diaphram and let them dry.
Well for !@#$@ sake. The glue dried hard, it had partially melted and eaten into the rubber, and all but buggered the diaghrams. NEVER EVER use super glue to seal
these holes, I know ive never seen anyone here recommend the use of the glue, but if any one ever suggests it, u now know what not to use, Ive had them on the bike 4 a short time now, and when i re inspected them sum of the holes have reappeared and cause of the hardness of the glue one of the diaphrams now has 2 tears in it.
sorry 4 the drawn out post, just had to vent.

Pete, I've got some spare diaphragms here, they're good condition, just the usual creases but no pinholes, they're from 78' carbs though, maybe different from 80's, I don't know as I haven't seen inside an 80' carb, but if they are compatible they're yours for 5 bucks each if wanted, cheers.

        hey pggg,
Ive just purchased a set of carbs
off a suzuki, so i wont b needing
        those diaphrams. gottem for $150.00.

from memory i think the diaghrams are
different in that a circlip holds the plate and needle
in place, on the later models 2 screws are used.

Anyone else like me, havent got the money but
just bought the big bore kit and now the carbs,
i reckon this bikes going to send me broke,
but watta way 2 go. lol :-)
