More for style then anything. They do look good but I prefer something bigger that offers some wind baffling protection as well as café appearance.

7 inch is the right headlight size though?

I'm not 100% sure. I have a standard model with square headlight. I am sure someone who knows for sure will chime in soon enough. shop around for the faring in any case i have seen a few different prices for the same thing at e-bay and other parts sources.

That fairing requires a round headlight. You can source the same one at many places including JC Whitney. $50-$60 total sounds in the ballpark.

It will fit the special headlight as it is a 7 inch. I had one on the 79 for about a day and hated it. It blew everything right into my face. I had more protection with the bubble shield on the helmet.
I hate signatures. Too many cars and Bikes to list here.

              cafe fairing

I have a cafe fairing on PITA and I like it well enough. Really like the way it looks. 7" is the size of my headlight and I drive an 80 special...

                fairing

I've run that type of fairing on several of my bikes.but never on an xs1100. They look and work good if you use a low enough bar, like a superbike or drag bar,but that could be rough around town a bike that big. even though I,ve seen Goldwings with clip- ons in europe.
