I just put the new coils from XSMikes site, the bike has been sitting for about 4 months and before that about 8 months. When I bought the bike I was not told that the tank was trashed inside until it was to late. After cleaning the carbs out a while ago, When I try to start to prime them the fuel comes pouring out of them also when I try to start them in the ON position. What can I do to stop this from happing.

Ah, welcome to the wonderful world of XS100 Carbs.
There are half a million threads about them here. A search will yield many things to do.
In a nutshell, make sure your float heights are set right, the float valves are sealing and in good shape, and that they are clean, clean, clean!
The crap from the tank can easily get in there and block the float valve from seating well, cauing a leak. Make sure the tank is cleaned out well and put some inline fuel filters on to block the crud.80 XS1100SG

Pull the carbs back off, re-clean them. Especially the float valves. There is debris in the float valves causing them to stick and overflow. I did the 3 time carb cleaning and installed new float valves and the first time I put them on the bike I had to pull them back off and clean out two of the float valves from debris.80XS11G (heavily modified) "Snot Rokkit"

To stop debris continually jamming open the carbs' float valves, permanent solution - a complete tank repair kit, por15 or similar, stripped and cleaned petcocks and new fuel hoses. Stop-gap repair that'll keep you running - clean out the carbs(again ) then bung in a pair of inline filters - but that's more of a semi-fix, rust/gunk still contaminates the petcocks if the original screens really are damaged, there's no shortcuts for a rusted tank interior

Hey Monfortzoo,
I see you're an aircraft mech, so you know your way around tools and such! First tip, please edit your profile/signature to include the YEAR/MODEL of your XS1100, there are differences in them that can cause specific instructions to be wrong!
Secondly, since we yet don't know what model you have,....IF you have the earlier series....78-79, you may need to ensure that you have the fuel lines hooked up correctly, especially if it's a special, but even a standard can be wrong IF the upper "T" fittings are connected to fuel instead of venting to AIR!
You can't tell us too much information ..... usually !
Okay, you got the bike 12 months ago, sat for 8 months, then you worked on carbs, then sat another 4 months till recently put on new ig. coils! Now you've discovered that the tanks are full of rust and such! What has been mentioned before is pretty spot on! Good Luck and welcome!
