    XS11 LD Rally bike

OK just thinking out loud, here is what I would like to do with "The Mule" when I turn her into a Long Distance Rally Cycle.
Of course who knows if I will acctually get any sponsors.
How bout it JP? Whana be the first sponsor?

Im planning on competing in the "Waltz Across Texas Rally" in april so we'll see if I (and the XS) have what it takes.
Wish me luck (or better yet a prayer!)

Well, I'ld make the windshield a bit higher, add floorboards and/or highway pegs....

Nice to see 'what if' on these bikes. Good job!

      Thanks Jerry,
I do actually have a stock windshield on my bike. I also have highway pegs, but I am looking at formulating a way to get them lower and wider, as they are too high for my 6'3" self. Also they cause my knees to push in on the lowers so I need them to go out wider from the bike.
Just another part of the project.

            What snow!

I'm going riding next week. The high will be in the low 70's, lows in the upper 50's. It doesn't snow here in Houston.

It is a Russell Day Long seat. Here are some photos of it when I first got it.

It is, hands down, the best Long Distance touring seat. Best moto seat I have ever sat on.

Maybe you could at least be excused from annual dues for having "xs11.com" on the bike as an advertisement!

                  Going back a couple posts.....

Regarding fitting floorboards....you might remember I fitted a set to my XJ back in September. Thread (with photos) was:

In addition to moving the foot position forward, the feet now sit a little lower than stock. More comfortable, but you can loose some lean angle if you drop it to far. The XJ was low to begin with, and the Diamond seat I put on didn't do much to help! The top of my boards is about 1.5 inches lower than stock.

While I had to build my own hardware, stock boards (mine are Drag Specialty brand) come with hardware that may be adaptable. Big issue is the Yamaha use of 3/4 inch square stock in the footpeg socket; the supplied hardware looks smaller.

Have put a couple thousand miles on the floorboards now, have only scaped the bottom of the mounting bracket twice (both times right side) and the comfort they offer on long rides makes up for the slight loss of cornering angle.

Now if I can just get that cruise control I have sitting on the shelf installed this winter......temp today is supposed to be in the 50s, but forcast is for snow beginning Tuesday.......
