Ignition Switch Cover

Has anyone tried to replace the weather cover on the ignition switch?
Mine crumbled away today and now the key slot is open to the weather.
Of course it all fell into the tumbler, almost didn't get it unlocked to go home after work.
It was apparently plastic, because that's what I had to dig out with my pocket knife to free it up.

I got it apart all except the lock cylinder and cleaned it out ok, but I would like to fix it without adding/changing keys.

You can get a replacement switch assembly, and IIRC, Prom posted about how you can swap the tumbler assembly, or rekey the NEW assembly to match the old one, and you will want to swap the bottom switching and wire contacts and keep the old ones in the new housing because they are heavier gauge than the new ones, and are the correct wires!

"Weather cover"? My key slots are completely visible and there are no plastic covers over any of them (2-78E's an 80 special and an 81H).

Its a small "door" inside the slot that moves out of the way when you jam the key in.
Didn't know what else to call it, so I made one up.
