  • Best Mileage!?!

    Hey all!

Just got back from a trip to the north (Tawas, MI) and am excited to share I got the best mileage I have ever gotten on this bike.
I commute daily on it 90 miles round trip and generally average around 30mpg.
Recently had some carb problems and had them all torn down (multiple times) and came across a thread about adjusting your floats and that it could help with gas mileage. Well it seems to have in this case.
On the way up I scored approx 39 MPG!!!! And I was not letting any grass grow, running 80 on most the open highway.
On the way home I trailed my wife in the full size conversion van and let her cut the wind for me. We averaged 60 mph to maximize gas mileage. I got nearly 49 MPG!!!!! out of the old girl. I could not believe it.

So it got me curious as to what the rest of you guys are averaging. Weigh in if it suits your fancy

    Thanks!

    best mileage

I don't know if you would call this best but, I averaged 100 miles per tank on the freeway between Laguna Hills and SLC in 2001. Today, I filled up after only 42 miles, for the second time. I just finished an electric repair and I don't see anything wrong with the bike. It used to wheelstand getting about 25 mpg city miles, though.

      specials...
Around town average 32 to 36 mpg.
      Freeway 40 to 42 mpg.
      standards
same around town and on the highway.
Did get just a little more crusing 45/55 once, 45 mpg.

When Tsunami and Purple Reign are in fresh tune-up, each will do right around 40mpg during long-distance highway/interstate touring (full vetter fairings, windshield, sadddlebags, trunk, loaded with luggage). Any sort of happy wrist or XSively higher speed will bring that figure down significantly.

          Same as my Buick

27 mpg. Mind you that's with a slightly smaller section rear tire (125/85-16) and lugging a sidecar.

            Mileage

Stock carb set-up, with headers, was 29 or so, switched to NGK iridium, and am getting 33 now. AS long as I stay off it, of course.
