For maximum acceleration, do you blast the throttle full open all at once or do you perform a very smooth, brisk roll-on?

I do a smooth roll on only because I don't know how this mammoth of a bike would be on one wheel. -
My riding style and the twisted roads here in swamp land lends itself better to a brisk roll-on. But having said that, if you are tuned right your machine should jump when the throttle is snapped wide open.Mike Giroir

Do these bikes like to power wheelie? I'm still a new rider and would never dream of doing this...I just don't want to have the girl lift up on me not expecting it...Comment

My bike seems to respond much better if I roll on it instead of cracking it open. I think it's too rich on the bottom end.
Elevation here is around 5800. I can't remember my jetting but I think I'm stock with a 4-1.

If I'm in the upper gears, 2nd thru 5th, I can snap WOT without worrying about the front wheel coming up, but many folks have reported this event in 1st gear, so just roll on until you get into the higher gears!
Mine has the little big bore kit, and 4" over front forks, so it sits up a little higher than stock, but most of our machines can power wheelie in first IF tuned right!

Mine now responds either way...
I can pull it up in first at 30mph and I can also go WOT at 50mph in 5th gear and have 110 in no time flat.

I don't "crank" it because I have very limited experience doing wheelies and don't want to damage my bike if I should drop her. I do twist her briskly as you put it and would describe the motion as almost like hopping from gear to gear. The bike becomes lite and I can feel her coming up on the suspension. The whole bike lift upward under acceleration and settled down a little when a consistent speed is reached ... or can be hopped from gear to gear as I call it if I intend to keep accelerating.
If your ever behind one of these 11s and the rider twists it you can see the effect rather nicely.
