    Ok, I changed the oil this morning, took it the car wash and cleaned her up. Came home changed the spark plugs took it for a ride and she was bogging down like crazy. Took the plugs out and noticed they were gaped different then the ones that came out, well i decided to just put the old plugs in and see what happens. How it will start but when you put it in first gear she dies. Could i have had something come loose when i washed it? I checked all over and couldnt see and thing that came disconnected. Should I put in the new plugs? im kinda confussed.,

    ok i put in the new plugs and gaped them at .026. It wont die from nutural to first put it just bogs like crazy through the gears. Could the carbs need to be re-sinked?

      If you used a high pressure wash, I'd look for anything affected by moisture:
      Starting with :
      Saturated air filters (if external pods are used)
      Water in the float bowl (from leaks on the boot seals
      Moisture on the ignition wires or in the fuse block area

      I'd start by draining the carb bowls and making sure all the wires are dry (possibly even under the side covers by the fuse block

        ok how do i do that? i did check the air filter and it wasnt wet. It will start in nuteral but then die as soon as u put it in first. but it wont start in first.

          Look for a shorted or dead light in the Pilot box. Don't ask me how I know this. I sat on the side of the road for 30 minutes after a car wash. When I finally noticed my oil pressure light had shorted from some unforseen water getting into the pilot box. Pulled the bulb and rode it home. By the way it would run in N Die in first and generally be a dog going down the road. Pulled bulb and it ran great.
          I hate signatures. Too many cars and Bikes to list here.

            ok i pulled the side covers and didnt see anything wet, still looking for the pilot box.

              The pilot box is the box holding the idiot lights, sits between the speedo and the tach.....

                Man that makes sense. lol Ok ive let it sit out in the sun for the past hour. Went out and it started right up and wont die in first gear. now i just have to put the seat back on and try a test drive. Keeping my fingers crossed.

                  ok back. It ran and drove just like it should, ok now i need to calm down and not get to worked up. Thanks to everyone that helped. I did go out and found me a manual on it and was sitting here reading through it. called the other place to cancell my order.

                    Places to NOT pressure wash:
                    Near electrical stuff.
                    Near bearings(Steering, swing arm, and wheel)
                    Near dust caps on forks.

                      I repair pressure washers for a living, and will NOT use them on the bike.

                          I just had the same problem (albeit) with a garden hose. I then readjusted my clutch as she ran fine, but stalled when I shifted into first. This did not fix the problem. I then went to lunch with SHMBO. I came home read this thread, and then ran outside to give her a try. All better! Heck, even better than before I washed her as I was slightly off before on the clutch adjustment and she would shift hard into first from neutral. Now she shifts smooth

                          Is there a fix for the pilot boxes aversion to water? I washed her with a garden hose. Last week I changed out the rusted screws that were in the pilot box cover with stainless steel (Had to start somewhere )
