  • fist ride on the bike

Rode the bike to work this morning, about 10 miles. Only miles since i bought it Sunday. Anyway when i was driving it i did notice it shifted kinda hard when i say hard i mean like a load clunking shound. What should I look for when i do a inspection tonight? Or how do you know if you should just replace the tranny?

If its not jumping out of gear just get use to it. I think it was ELiberty that said "it shifts like a Russian tractor." If the middle gear and finial drive fluid levels are good and the splines have been greased by hand all is well. You can take the left side cover off and check the alignment marks but is its going in and out of gear ok than the noise is just the nature of the beast. Proper clutch adjustment goes a long way with lessening the clunk. You will develop a technique over time that will also help. On mine if I hold the RPM steady for just a second before shifting it goes in with out a sound. If I’m pulling power thru the shift its going to clunk

      Correction

Sorry I just realized I had miss- quoted. It was Fredntoon that stated

“ The engine runs backwards, it shifts like a Russian tractor, steers like a cow and goes like s#@*% off a shovel, Your going to love it”

I love that. it decribes my bike to a T
