  • little spring slide diaphram

    hey guys
just a quick question, 81 special,
does the little spring sit below the clip or above it,
    for the slide diaphram,
i ask because mine is sitting above the clip wich
pushes the needle down, ive been helping strayla
with his bike and noticed his spring sits below the
clip which pushes the needle up, his bike is a 78 tho.

    thanx in advance.
    pete

        Pete,
I have multi sets of carbs for the 78,79,80 & 81 XS11's both Standard and Specials. The 78,79 carbs the spring is below the clip and on the 80,81 carbs the spring is above the clip. The only difference in the carbs needles I see is the 78,79 needles have 5 slots for adjustment and the 80,81 needles are fixed. This maybe why the springs are set differently.

          Thanx Do Lee,
          just wanted to be sure,
also just for ur info, mine has the 5 slots
in the needle as well, i think there must b
sum slight differences in the carbs from the usa models
          and aus.

thanx strayla, that info helped as well.
