  • Factory Tool set

I am just trying to get info on what all would have come in the original toolset. I would like to put together a set to have on the bike, you know, in case I come across any stranded hardleys, or euro bikes!

What I have, so far is:

    1- small phillips screwdriver bit
    1- large phillips screwdriver bit
    1- slotted screwdriver bit
    1- screwdriver handle
    1- Oil level gauge
    3- allen keys ( not sure size, but assume 6mm, 4mm, ??
    1- pliers
    1- wrench handle extension
    3 - single box-end wrenches 17mm, 22mm, 24mm
    1- sparkplug wrench
    3- double open ended wrenches, 8&10mm, 11&12mm, 13&14mm???
1- Spring hook (not sure what this is)
1- Spring hook lever (or this)
    1- tool bag

I have a few pieces around from bikes in the past, and some can be scrounged on Ebay or garage sales. Just need to know what all is supposed to be in there.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

    Hey CrazCnuk,

Did a search for "bike tool kit",

Found This thread with photo of OEM kit.

and This thread discussing what tools folks bring ,

and there's a tech tip, I think in the MISC section about the ULTIMATE TOOL KIT!

I already had a pretty good picture. A set was for sale on Ebay, it went for $51, I think.

He did not really explain the tools, though.

The factory tools weren't the best, but they can save the day, in an emergency, and they fit in the toolbox.

I now know that the spring hook is for holding up the rear caliper, when you take the back wheel off.

The lever is used to lift the swingarm up so you can get the axle past the muffler?
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

          Updated with new information

          Open end wrenches

          8mm x 10mm
          10mm 12mm
          14mm x 17mm

          Box end

          19mm
          22mm
          27mm
          Handle Extension

          Screwdrivers

          1 small Philips bit
          1 large Philips bit
          1 Slotted bit
          Driver Handle

          Alan Keys

          5mm
          6mm

          Misc
          Sparkplug wrench w/ cheater bar
Spring Hook ( hanger for rear caliper)
Cable to hold up rear swingarm (std only)
          Oil guage
          Spring hook (Shock adjuster)
          Pliers

I assume if you went to any large bike wrecker, they likely have a box full of these (junk) tools you could paw through to make up a reasonable starter kit.
