Looks like #3 carb leaks like a siv. But not all the time. It has been cleaned more than ounce and for a while works fine but on occasion the garage floors will be covered in gas. I've tried shutting fuel valves off and they don't seem to seal very well. They could use rebuilding or replaced. Any help appreciated.Terry

check the tapered end of the float needle...if it has a ridge on it then you need to replace them...best do all four if this is the case. http://www.partsnmore.com/PNMSite/XV...20&%20Seat.htm $2 each or £8 each for the needle and seat these guys do fuel tap kits too.

Yep, rebuild petcocks (and octopus if special) first, since no gas will be getting to the carbs if they were OK. Then on to carbs, bad float, needle, needle seat, or if 80 or newer bad orings around seat assy.

Kit avail from Yamaha, Partsnmore, or K&L brand at any dealer or Dennis Kirk, etc.
