  • cam chain adjuster rubber plug

    Hi all,

What is the purpose of the rubber plug at the outside

    end of the adjuster ?

Mine is leaking oil, can I super glue it ?

Better yet, what about JB Bond, & the heck with the plug, lol

Thx, I will hold off till I receive a reason for it, THX in advance !!

It holds in oil, until it get s old. You can try some JBweld, but I like to just replace the plug, and use a little Yamabond #2 to keep it in and leak free. Sometimes you may want to stick something through the hole to push on the adjuster, like when you tighten down too much, and the shaft gets slightly bent and sticks.

      cam chain tensioner oil leak

I just replaced my plug with a good amount of RTV inside and a smear in the crack outside . A lot of oil can leak out of these things . I just saw a drop when I pulled into the garage but that was with the engine off . With the engine running it was going through a quarter of a litre /quart every couple of weeks and cause the oil warning light to drive me crazy .
I also have the gasket and the o-ring if need be . Axel
