  • exhaust systems?

I just replaced my exhaust system and I no longer have the crossover tube installed. Do I really need to have this tube. I have not tried to start the bike because I am having coil problems.
So before I start the bike will it be ok?

If the replacement pipes are 4 into 2 and designed for the XS11 you will be ok but I would re-sync the carbs. You will however loose some of the exhaust savaging effect that the cross over pipe was there to promote.

The cross-over helps with low-mid range torque. Higher RPM will be fine. These bikes have so much torque down low that you'll be good to go.

79XS11F, did you perhaps mean "re-jet"?

I actually meant re-sync. My own experience is that just about any change to the air supply system, carbs or exhaust requires a re-sync. Most 4 into 2 and even many 4 into 1 after market pipes don't require re-jets but that is of course depends on the brand.
For me re-syncing is a for sure and re-jetting is a "maybe"

I was thinking the same thing, Prom. When you think of it, if low-range torque is affected by the change, the pressures at the manifolds might also be differentially affected.
