  • Float bowl gaskets - cheaper than $10?

Does anyone know the best place to get Mikuni float bowl gaskets at cheaper than dealer cost? Seems $7 or $8 bucks is even steep for these things. ...or can one just make their own by doing a pattern and using a razor to cut it out... ??

Yes, it is possible to cut your own gaskets. Someone, think it might have been TopCat, not sure, did that awhile back. You have to get special gasket material for this as it has to be impervious to gas. Most auto supply stores should have this in bulk or in a package. Trace, and cut away.

        HomeMade Gaskets?

        Well, Brian,

I did make my own, but not the carb bowls, only the larger tranny, valve cover, clutch case, gear shift case. The carb bowl is a bit smaller and the holes are smaller than the holepunch size that I used for the other gaskets bolt holes!? But thanks for the mention, the other larger gasket are do-able at home!

I think there's something not right with the gasket shown in the picture from Parts'N'More. This page from their catalog shows that gasket, and a couple of other configurations in the rebuild kits. Also remember that the float bowls from the earlier models are not the same as the later models - one will not fit on the other.

I am not sure what to think I had 6 items picked out and ready to order and all came up as out of stock...try back later.

Do they actually have stuff to sell?

              Guess I'll try again later

I have ordered items from them a couple of times and they gave great service and free shipping. Send them an e-mail and they will answer you within a day. You can't beat the price either.
