  • Intresting tidbit

I was just having a smoke and reading the "Vehicle emission control information" tag that is attached to my locking side cover.
It says that the engine should be set to idle at 1100 RPM
    ignition Timing 5 degrees BTDC
Gasoline grade regular (leaded) octane 91 MINIMUM

HMMM ... Regular gas around here is like 87 at best and I have been trying to get my bike to idle at about 1000 RPM

When i am done with this head job I will set the idle faster and use the higher grade gas to see if that also helps the engine run better.

Is anyone else using high test gas day in and day out? How many have their idle set that high?

The RM values were caculated differently then. Mid grade will be just fine. Anything greater is a waste to your pocket book. As for the idle, the 1000-1100rpm is just fine.

      "Terminology..."

When i am done with this head job...
Please refer to this as a "Valve Job", or.. getting some work done on the head, etc.

Having a smoke and a head job sounds about right to me. I don't know why he tossed in that other info on timing and fuel.
I hate signatures. Too many cars and Bikes to list here.

The VALVE JOB is done and I am having another smoke LOL LOL

Why did they change the way octane is determined??

            Change

Could be because there is no longer lead in the gas and now there's alcohol
