New brake lines from galfer

Hi Guys/Gals whoever!

I had posted a thread before about short lines for my 79 XS1100 Special. I had to contact Galfer Brake hoses direct and they have created a new P/N hose assembly for the 79 XS100 Special. If anyone out there needs them the P/N is FK003D611-3. It is a 3 hose set. They can be ordered from any galfer retailer. The top hose is 19-3/4" and the bottoms are 21-3/4. They are also available in an array of colors and are quaranteed for life. Mine are on the way and I will post how they are when I get them.
Galfer I feel went above and beyond to help me out and their customer service is excellent.

Hey Randy nice bike. I'm in the process of cleaning my old one up. (I had given it to my ex when I bought the FJR, but she has been having brake problems and wasn't able to tide for a while. So, I'm getting the bike back and will do a minor overhaul so to speak. I live in Effort right now and I am moving to Henryville by the end of July. (Near the Crossings). It would be great to get out with a couple of XS's. Keep me posted it will probably take until Mid-August till I'm settled.

Geez .... would be fun to ride some of the roads of roads in PA where I grew up and went to college. Wonder if it's still as beautiful and has remained somewhat uncrowded? Been 20 yrs since I've been back ......

I live in Brodheadsville, (have a Stroudsburg mailing address) I am probably only a hop, skip and jump away from you. We should all get together like Randy said. I just got my bike running with Randy’s help and am looking for any and every excuse to ride.

Hey wiz, you are probably better off with the fond memories rather then seeing what is happening here. More and more people move in every year and it will probably only get worse with the opening of the two new slots parlors. I cry seeing all of the trash being dumped onto the sides of the roads.

Was afraid of that, rman, same thing happens everywhere that it's nice. Indian casinos in my town of Temecula have brought with them a very sleezy element that now lives, sleezes and steals here. So Cal, Vegas, Colo Spgs. .... "they paved paradise and put up a parkin' lot", crooned a famous Canadian babe, right? .... either that or they let the zealots in.

Street riding is only really pleasant for me here during the early am hours ..... the a$$wipes in the cages are in a HUGE hurry the rest of the time and I'd feel more at ease in a tank .... it's all about 'D' down here, bro .... how are the PA drivers? .... that's where I learned to drive and got my license

Hey, That's only about 80 mi. from me, maybe I can tag along w/you guys or host a back roads ride around my way some time.

PA is getting crowded just like everywhere else. When I was a kid it was all farmers around here, now its mostly subdivisions and soccer moms/dads running around in their suvs talking on the phone. I recently read that auto registrations are up something like 40% in Chester County in the last 10 yrs. Makes me mad if I think about it too much but there is still some good riding if you look for it.

MooseMan Brake Lines question

I checked the Galfer website and saw SS brake lines for the front but nothing noted for the rear. I also couldn't find that P/N. They say they will not sell to the public. Can you tell me if the P/N includes lines for the front and rear and also where did you buy them from, the price, and how you like them. I have the original lines on my bike and noticed they are cracking and need replacing.

Hi, No Galfer won't sell to the public. I bought mine from Cruiser1.com. The part number is FK003D611-3 and is a three line front set only. I don't know the part number for the back but more than likely cruiser1 should be able to answer that. I haven't installed them yet but I can see they will only take a few minutes as they are exact replicas of the orginals except in SS.

The name of the Galfer dealer that I have used (and gotten very good service from) is Cycle Brakes, they are very near galfer in California.

Part number for 1978-79 standerd utilizing a two line system (superior to the stock layout) is FK 003D-156
This is left line = 36.5"
right line =38.5" If you have different handlebars you can measure the lines center to center and plus or minus the length of their kit. I use a different rear brake which is low mounted under the axle and Suzuki Bandit 600 twin piston so I don't need the stock fitting rear line.
