  • New Problem

Something new showed up last night. The #2 exhaust header doesnt get very hot at all. I can hold my hand on it after a full minute of running. I pulled the spark plug out of it and compared it to #1. It looks the same. #1 header is hot very quickly.

I would think if the header is cool, the spark plug should be wet or fouled from not burning the fuel. Just another thing that doesnt make sense.

    Any ideas?

The plug could be colored from operating the bike at other rpms on a previous ride. I would unscrew the "mixture screw" about a quarter turn and see if it fires better. Just try and record the position of the screw so that you can get it back in case you need to go the other way with it.

The above is assuming that you are not using the "choke" when it is runnng with a cold header. You could also be in need of a synch (prior to messing with mixture screws).

            What do you mean skids?

I was using the enhancer while I was checking pipe temp. What difference should that make?

Re: What do you mean skids?

Well then don't bother with the mixture screws...yet. One of your enrichener jets in the float bowl are probably clogged. See the other recent posts for pictures.

I think everything is OK. It starts good using the Enricher and runs well on the road. All 4 pipes get hot once it is out on the streets. I'll bet I missed something blocking the small port for the enricher by the copper tube in carb 2 bowl.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
