Can anyone tell me if the main shaft (the one the clutch is on ) can be removed in the bike?

The Main Shaft cannot be removed without splitting the cases, and there are several folks on here who have done it. Regrettably/thankfully I have NOT had to do that YET!
Why do feel you need to remove the MAIN SHAFT??
