will a seat off a special fit a standard w/standard tank?
i need a seat for my 79 but all i can find around here is specials, i cant drive my bike to the place to try it because its not street ready/legal yet. plus i need a tank but i didnt want to get a special tank because it smaller.

Could be problems in seats-ville
Special/standard seats won't inter change.
Also there is difference between some years, like location of TCI and early standards had small "cowling" behind seat.

It may be posible to swap, but would require a few mods.

I would say no ... The seat pan is completely different and the rubber dampers are not in the same places on the special seat.
