What works to repair the plastic side covers. Mine is cracked, right side along bottom by mounting lug. I tried fiberglass, it worked for a while but came loose.

There is a product called Plas-T-Pair that is a two part kit, one powder and one liquid. It works great on the covers but it is very hard to find. There is another product called PC-7 available at most "Hardware Hank" stores, it is kind of like JB Weld but is much superior. Gooey stuff to work with but about the strongest epoxy that I have EVER seen.
Alternatively, my son rebuilt the side covers on his suziyucky with fiberglass and it came off too, when he redid it he sanded the area with coarse sandpaper and wiped it with a rag just barely dampened with PVC pipe cleaner then redid the fiberglass and it has held now for over a year. The Old Tamer

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

There has been a couple of ways to fix these thrown out over the months. Here's what I used to fix a crack in my hard bags. Get a can of PVC/ABS glue and some woven fiberglass cloth. Cut strips to fit over/around the area of repair. Clean the repair area well, remove ALL the old fiberglass. Slather the area with the cement and lay the strips down and slather them also. Let dry. Once it dries, you can sand it down smooth and fill in with Bondo or spot putty and paint/prime as wanted. So far, my repair to the bags is holding strong. I tried gluing two pieces of plastic together using this method before I did it to the bags, formed a VERY strong bond.
The plastic you are working with is ABS, so make sure your glue is the right stuff. I also tried the fiberglass trick and it cracked off after a couple of months. My local 'glass guru confirmed that fiberglass resin will not stick well to plastics, after I had tried it.When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger
