Wash the bike - Hard to start

I gave my ride a good squirt with the hose today and afterwards it was very hard to start . I had to let it sit and dry out for a while . What causes this ? Can it be avoided ? Is there a repair to be made ?

Dielectric grease will help keep moisture from most electrical connectors (can even put in plug caps).

Anything from wet coils to spark plugs can give you trouble.

Good squirt, then hard to start, then had to sit for a while? Did he actually say that?
